Well, it looks like the HALO series is doing super fine. Who would've thought that a game without the Master Chief would sell so well?
Anyway, I read about this on the fantastic website, The Escapist, and you can read the full article here.
I also heard some rumblings that good old MC might return sometime in the future too.
You know, I'm kinda Halo-ed out. Halo 2 had a stellar multiplayer, incredibly fun and had the merit of being very easy to just pick up and play, but the single player was lackluster. Halo 3 was worse in my book, very lazy story-telling (which did nothing to immerse you into the game) and the multiplayer was essentially Halo 2.5. When it comes to sequels, you do expect a certain amount of evolution in gameplay. I expect the game maker to constantly search for a perfect experience that pushes you just that little bit out of your comfort zone. Halo 3 just didn't have that.
ReplyDeleteNow don't get me wrong, the games were very fun to play and will always have a space on my shelf, but without a revolution, I'm likely not going back. ODST has an excellent storytelling mechanic and an interesting multiplayer experience, but I was very close to not buying the game, something which I expect I wasn't alone in...
Ahh, but we have got a lot of our money's worth out of buying it. We've played it quite a lot.
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested to see what happens in HALO:Reach...what new sort of mechanic they will employ in making that one...
Time will tell, good buddy...what're your thoughts on the future of the HALO franchise?
